Orc Hybrid - Knightmare Miniatures

Hello, quick post from the backlog of drafts, a few months ago I finished this Oldhammer style miniature from Knightmare Miniatures Space Raiders range the Orc Hybrid obviously based on the Freebooterz Ork-Genestealer hybrid, I fell in love with this miniature the moment I saw it and think it's a great improvement on the original Ork hybrid miniature which I was never a fan of.

I went for typical Space Ork colours with traditional purple and blue Genestealer body parts and finished it off with a custom resin base, check out the shoulder pad I love it.

Below is a picture of the Ork-Genestealer hybrid Frebooterz mob, I didn't find this mob inspiring, maybe it was the lack of official Ork hybrid miniatures or the flat paint job, in fact I have never been a big fan of this wave of Space Orks with their plastic arms and weapons, I found them goofy compared to first wave. I don't think GW ever revisited Ork hybrids which is probably for the best.

Thanks for dropping in and get yourself over to Knightmare miniatures and bag yourself some real fun sculpts.

Rogue Trader - Space Goblin and Space Orc with Blaster

Hello, todays classic Oldhammer miniatures are another recent paint job that completed my first March 1987 Warhammer 40K mail order flyer project, the Space Orc with Blaster and the Space Goblin

First up we have Space Orc with Blaster, the first official Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader Orc before the Orcs got renamed Space Orks, scupted by Kev Adams there are a few later variants of this miniature that apear in the RT102 Space Orks range.  The blaster is obviously a Bolter, I went for a military dull palette for this miniature as I am not too keen on bright colourful orks I try to capture feel from the back and white illustrations in the Rogue Trader rulebook.

Secondly we have the Space Goblin, the first official Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader Goblin, when the rulebook followed the space Goblins were now know as Gretchin a name that I love and still refer to them as now, sure they became grotz or something naff sounding.

Sporting German helmet, sawn-off double barrelled shogun, a big knife, pistol and a bandollier of grenades this Gretchin means business, it also looks like he has a bomb harness strapped on his back.

LE1 Space Orc

Hi Folks, today's Oldhammer treat is the 'not so' Limited Edition LE1 Space Orc.

From what I believe the first Space 'Orc' to appear in the citadel ranges, there were other Orcs with a sci-fi twist like the Bazooka Orcs, Sleazy Rider and the Orc with machine gun in the Marauder miniatures Orc range but not until the launch of Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader where Orcs were renamed to Orks did true Space Orks come along, was this sculpt just a flight of fancy or a test miniature for the early development of Warhammer 40,000, many other miniatures appeared in the limited edition range featuring a sci-fi theme or technology equipped, Space Skeleton, Wizard with machine gun did anyone ever incorporate these into their early Rogue Trader games?  I do remember we used loads of  Sleazy Rider's.

What I like about this Orc is the primal animalistic appearance of the Orc, gorilla like, hunched over with big long limbering arms, giant tusks, he reminded me of The Planet of the Apes movies so much that I gave him a little U.S. flag on his arm, he wears a Space suit retro fitted with armour plates and a flight pack and armed with a crude combi-weapon of double barrelled blaster and battle-axe!!!

There is a nicely painted example over on Solegends.

These photos appear a little dark I may have to redo them.
