Female Warrior Jayne - RT601 - Adventurers - Adeptus Sororitas

Hey, Today's miniature from my Rogue trade collection is Female Warrior Jayne of the Adeptus Sororitas and in running order the first battle sister miniature.

You can see the original advert over here on Solegends RT 601 Adventurers.

Here is my painted miniature armed with a Powersword and holstered Laspistol and non-standard marine design power armour. Now I have mentioned before that I love that the power armour has high heels but when painting this one I noticed another feature on the armour was a power armoured thong!!!

Jayne and Gabs together again

Just case in think I am making it up Powered Armoured high heels and thongs

'Nun with a Gun' art from the Rogue Trader rulebook portraying a Adeptus Sororitas,  now I asked you what we thought the ram shoulder device signified and the debate opened up with my readers.
Now the ram shoulder device got completely replaced with the Fleur-de-lis I think because it represents female virtue and spirituality.  The ram device was then recycled and sculpted on later Space Marine Librarians, I think this may have been influenced by the ancient Greeks who used to sacrifice rams before battle and have an Oracle read the entrails to tell the future portents but this is just my interpretation, I am would be happy to hear more of your thoughts on this.

If you missed my post on Female Warrior Gabs, here it is.

Hope u enjoy,

RT601 - Adventurers - Mad Punk, Testbed Slave

Hey,  Today's miniatures are more from the classic RT601 - Adventurers range, we have the Mad Punk and the Testbed Slave. On the slotta mount of the Mad Punk it reads Space Punk.

Here she is the Mad Punk, unfortunately I think miniature was discontinued and not incorporated into any of the later ranges which is a shame as she would of made an excellent RT Guardsman.

Next we have the Testbed Slave, A nice early servitor miniature that also died with the RT601 - Adventurers range, I never saw this miniature relisted under another range.

The story behind this miniature is that it was a 'PRO' painted ebay purchase and I again the 'victim' (idiot) purchased with the intention of dettol stripping it in the near future but because it was 'PRO' painted it would do for now and might see light in some games. Well when it arrived I was not a happy bunny again as only the raised surface detail was painted and all of the under out of camera shot areas were bare metal (this is not the first time this has happened to me) so I used what was painted as a base coat, filled in the bare metal and painted over the top of the miniature.

My RT Cyborg has someone to play with now, more RT servitor to come over the coming year.

BTW before you all cast me out of your circles for being insensitive to the original owners painting ability I shall say that I am a amateur hobbyist too but I believe that if we are going to pay the high prices GW charge us for miniatures they should be properly prepared, undercoated and all the detail the sculptor has worked hard to add should have at least lick of paint. Sorry if I have offended someone out there.

Enjoy

RT601 - Adventurers - Pirate Captain

Hello RT Fans,
Today I treat you to yet another miniature from the classic citadel RT601 - Adventurers range, a Pirate Captain.
To me he looks a bit like Vanilla Ice with a cutlass, gold necklace and all.

Pirate Captain

**Update 15/04/2013** Pirate Captain with reworked flesh colour for better photgraphy colour, I felt the old colour was to dull when I posted the shot.

Pirate Captain

I am concentrating on my Oldhammer Event Khornate chaos warband at the moment so Rogue Trader miniatures are coming on slow but steady but more importantly not forgotten, I have a Navigator stripping in Dettol as I painted him in 1988 in enamels and a Mad Punk undercoated and ready to go, lots more to come.

Stay tuned

RT601 - Adventurers - ExTech, Hero

Hello,  Today's miniatures are more from the classic RT601 - Adventurers range, we have the ExTech and the Hero. On their slotta mounts it reads Tech Adept and Feral Hero why GW didn't put this on the listings is a mystery as both sound better.

I enjoyed painting the ExTech, he carries an early flamer which looks similar to those carried in the Aliens movies so I imagine the miniature designer had Aliens in mind when he/she scuplted the miniature.
ExTech (Tech Adept) - front

ExTech (Tech Adept) - back

The Hero reminds me of a John Carter of Mars, a Techno Barbarian who cares nothing for armour and relies on agility and dexterity to stay alive, he is wearing a loin cloth showing that he is either quite fashion conscious and accessorizing or that he is covering up his ballet tights.

I must point out both wear goggles which was a must for RT 1st Edition equipment, watch out for those blind grenades!

I have listened to several audio books this week while painting.

Isaac Asimov - The Foundation Trilogy by the BBC Radiophonic workshop with a very well known cast of UK actors playing the characters, I highly recommend this, it was about my 10th listen. You can see where many of the W40k concepts came from here.

Isaac Asimov - The Gods Themselves, this was a weird one not sure I will listen to it again.

Triplanetary by Doc E. E. Smith, I highly recommend this one two, a brilliant Sci-Fi story with plenty of history tied in.

My Realm of Chaos miniatures are coming on and i will have more Beastmen pictures to post hopefully tomorrow.

Enjoy

RT601 - Adventurers Medley - Halfling Cook, Cyborg, Ventolin Pirate

Hi, Yesterday I told you I had a treat for you and here it is day two confined to the kitchen and today I managed to knock three classic miniatures out. I tested my new Army Painter inks on these miniatures, these were ordered from Warlord Games, I purchased one each of Strong Tone and Dark Tone inks and I am very impressed these inks are great replacements for Badaab Black and Devlan Mud washes, I am well versed in Strong Tone and Dark Tone army dips and these inks make a nice alternative. (p.s. The Army Painter super glue rules too)

The full original range can be seen here.

The later extended range can be seen here and here.

I am hoping to complete painting the Adventurers collection by the end of the year.

Here are my efforts.

Halfing Cook (Ratling), this fabulous miniature is obviously a ships cook and would be a welcome additioned to a Rogue Trader crew or a field cook for some Ratling snipers, made by designers who had a sense of humour. He has a pepper pot on his back which is a funny detail.

Cyborg (Servitor), definitely a precursor to the servitor, I will be working on the test-bred slave soon another precursor to the servitor. Eventually I will repaint my Bob Olley Servitors so he will have a few friends. (If mindless Servitors can make friends :s)

Ventolin Pirate, Humanoid Xenos perhaps? I wonder whats under the helmet? maybe a precursor to the Tau? I know nothing about the concept of this miniature, if anyone can enlighten me it would be great to hear from you.

Astropath Yerl - RT601 - Adventurers

Hi, my miniature for today is Astropath Yerl another miniature from RT601 Adventurers set, you can see this miniature depicted in one of the illustrations for the Imperial Bodyguard miniature, see post below.  If you look at some of the more modern citadel/gw scupts i.e Imperial Guard Regimental Advisors you will notice that the newer Astropaths haven't really strayed away from the original concept unlike nearly all the other W40K designs.

My painted version .

Space Amazon - RT601 - Adventurers

Hey, I am slowly updating the photos of some of my older posts and here is the first updated post, I hope you enjoy.

Here is today's first miniature from the RT601 - Adventurers range, a Space Amazon, see here also Rogue Trader Adventurers, Mercenaries, Pirates - Collectors Guide.

Space Amazon - front

Space Amazon - back

I am sure this model was based on John Blanche's 'Amazon' painting, my picture is taken from my Ratspike book.

John Blanche's 'Amazon'

She makes a great addition to an Inquisitorial warband and reminds me of characters from the Eisenhorn and Ravenor novels.  She is available to use whenever we play the W40K RPG Dark Heresy.

Another similar miniature is the LE15 - Chaos Amazon model another miniature based on another one of John Blanche's paintings, this time 'Amazon Gothique' which was featured on the front cover of White Dwarf 79, it was a limited edition miniature and shared it's blister pack with 'The Warlock' from the cover of the Fighting Fantasy magazine 10.

And here is my painted version of Amazon Gothique or Chaos Amazon (LE15).

Amazons from Ratspike and White Dwarf 82

The evolution of the Amazon miniature produced by Citadel Miniatures and as you can see below the Realm of Chaos era Champion of Slannesh shares many attributes of the original Amazon.

Amazons over the years

** Update September 2017 **

A nice new version of Amazon Gothique for a Necromunda 2017 advert, just artwork at the moment, shame if it ever comes out it will be made in plastic :(

** Update April 2018 **

And here with have it the new Necromunda Amazon

** Update January 2019 ** my version of Belladonna - Noble Bounty Huntress

Belladonna - Noble Bounty Huntress

This next miniature is also worth a special mention, available at Hasslefree Miniatures sculpted by Kev White, she named 'Jenova' and as you see below definately draws influence from Amazon Gothique.

Last one for now, another Amazon Gothique tribute by Geoff Solomon-Sims of Oakbound Studios.

Other Amazons spotted

Apparently she was coming to AoS once upon a time

There are a couple more painted versions of this miniature here and here.

If you enjoyed this post, get following :)

Pilot Lorgar - RT601 - Adventurers

Another miniature from the RT601 - Adventurers collection (my favourite set), Pilot Lorgar and again the original advert can be seen here solegends, this chap reminds me of someone from Dune, maybe a House Atreides ornithopter pilot.

Pilot Lorgar - front

Pilot Lorgar - back

As you can as a theme is developing, I delved into my massive Rogue trader collection when we started playing Dark Heresy RPG a couple of years ago and found so many suitable miniatures, the words 'space opera' jump out at me when sift through my old RT miniatures.
